Muted desert tones and tile roofing echo the desert environment of the 163-unit Hovley Gardens project. This sensitivity to the desert environment goes beyond the aesthetics of the project, however, and extends to a site layout with north-south orientation for the buildings and energy-efficient building materials. The bold accent colors on stairways and awnings as well as the unique balcony layouts, landings, and stair configurations are designed to accent the transition between private and public spaces.
